2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the 2014 Adventure version of its partially liquid-cooled BMW R1200GS. The 2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure is the highlighy anticipated off-road iteration machine powered by the same 1,170cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder boxer engine and agile chassis featured on the R1200GS model, but with enhanced off-road prowess and globetrotting abilities.

The new engine has the same peak output as the standard GS, claiming 125 horsepower at 7,750 rpm. As comparation, the old air-cooled engine is only good for 110 hp. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox which integrated into the engine housing and the wet clutch, while the cardan-shaft drive is now positioned on the left side of the bike.

Designed for use both on and off road, the 2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure features 0.4-inch more ground clearance than its predecessor, with modified geometry of trailing arm for sharper handling. The GS Adventure also comes with a 950-gram heavier flywheel, a larger 7.9-gallon fuel tank and has more comfortable height and tilt-adjustable rider seat than the base GS. Furthermore, the 2014 R1200GS Adventure’ fuel tank is not only 50% larger than the regular GS’ fuel tank but it is now made from lightweight aluminum.

The 2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure comes standard with two riding modes (Rain and Road) and three optional riding modes (Dynamic, Enduro and Enduro Pro). Other features include wide enduro footrests, adjustable foot controls, tubular steel space frame, a larger adjustable windscreen and air flaps, as well as modified trailing arm geometry.

The 2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure is offered in three color options: Alpine white, Matte Olive and Matte racing blue metallic. No word on pricing and its availability at the moment.
