Triumph has unveiled the all-new Thruxton and Thruxton R. For 2016, both models receive major upgrades inside and out.
The all-new Thruxton and Thruxton R are powered by a new Thruxton-spec 8-valve 1200cc parallel-twin Bonneville engine mated to a six-speed transmission, and also comes with Triumph’s next generation ride-by-wire fuel-injection, delivering 120 Nm (88.4 lb-ft) of torque at a low 4950 rpm – 62% more than the previous generation Thruxton. The bikes also come equipped with a new exhaust system with reverse-megaphone end cans that “deliver a thunderous, rich bass exhaust note to match their powerful presence and performance”. Other features include a traction control, ABS, three riding modes (road, sport, and rain), and a slipper assist clutch with cable actuation.
Visually, The Thruxs’s 60s-cafe-racer design get an incredible level of detailing, including a new Monza-style filler cap. Other new highlight include an LED taillamp, LED Daytime Riding Lights, USB port, an engine immobiliser and revised instrumentation. Numerous accessories are available, including a sculpted cockpit fairing, rear mudguard removal kit, Vance & Hines exhausts, lower clip-on handlebars and compact ‘bullet’ indicators, and so on. Or, maybe you can simply choose from the three kits available: track racer kit, cafe racer kit and Thruxton R performance race kit.
The high-end Thruxton R adds Brembo dual floating front rotors and monoblock radial calipers, Öhlins rear suspension, Showa big piston forks, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tires.
The 2016 Triumph Thruxton will available in three colors: Jet Black, Pure White, and Competition Green, while the 2016 Triumph Thruxton R will be offered in two exciting color choices: Diablo Red and Silver Ice.
