2015 Yamaha XJR1300 and XJR1300 Racer

Yamaha has unveiled the 2015 model year of its classic naked cruiser, the Yamaha XJR1300, and the racer variant of it, called the Yamaha XJR1300 Racer. Built in collaboration with Wrenchmonkees and Deus Ex Machina, both model were made their public debut at the 2014 Intermot Cologne motorcycle show.

The 2015 Yamaha XJR1300 and the all-new 2015 XJR1300 Racer are powered by 4-cylinder DOHC 1,251cc air and oil-cooled engine, which is extra 111cc over its top competitor, the Honda CB1100. The injected engine comes a manual 5-speed transmission that is mated to a chain final drive. It produces 98 hp at 8,000 rpm and 79.9 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm.

For 2015, the Yamaha XJR1300 receives a slimmer 3.8-gallon fuel tank, a new blacked out 4-2-1 exhaust system, a shortened sub-frame, a stitched solo-seat, the racing plate-style aluminum side covers with mesh inserts, tapered aluminium bars, a new instrument panel, a multi-focal headlight, and its 43mm fork sliders now comes with the DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) coating while Ohlins continues to supply the dual piggyback Öhlins shocks in the rear.

Unlike the XJR1300 that has an upright riding position, the 2015 Yamaha XJR1300 Racer is full bore. The new Japanese Cafe racer is a based on the “Eau Rouge“ Yard Built custom by Deus Ex Machina. It adds a short carbon front fender, a carbon fiber fairing, an aluminum front fender stay, a carbon rear seat cover and clip-on handlebars.

Both the XJR1300 and the XJR1300 Racer will be available in three color options: Power Blue, Matt Grey and Midnight Black. They will arrive in European showrooms at the end of 2014, at a price of €11,590. Unfortunately, there’s no word on its presence on the US market yet.
