Yamaha Motor Europe has unveiled the latest addition to its Sport Heritage motorcycle range, called the Yamaha XV950 Racer.
The 2015 Yamaha XV950 Racer is inspired by German designer Marcus Walz’ El Raton Asesino and is based on the regular XV950. It has a tubular steel double cradle frame and is powered by the same 942cc air-cooled 60-degree V-twin that is mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox, developing 52 hp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 58.6 lb-ft at 3,000 revs.
The XV950 Racer has a short wheelbase with the leaning-forward riding position. It also gets forged aluminium clip-on handlebars, an old-school headlamp cowl, new switchgear, rearset footrests, a new single seat that is 75mm higher than the standard XV950, as well as side number plates, a round LCD instrument, an Akrapovic exhaust, piggyback-style gas rear shocks, Rizoma styling parts, and some café racer styling tweaks.
The 2015 Yamaha XV950 Racer is expected to be available in May, in two color options – Glacier Blue and Matt Grey. Yamaha also offers a range of accessories for the XV950 Racer, such as leather saddlebags, an Akrapovic catalytic converter and so on.
