Yamaha has unveiled its new off-road race bike called the 2015 Yamaha WR450F Rally. The 2015 Yamaha WR450F Rally was developed by Rebel X Sport and Yamaha Italy, and it is designed to be “a bike dedicated to big adventure and exploration but also ready to race”, delivering affordable performance, reliability and simplicity.
The 2015 Yamaha WR450F Rally is based on the regular Yamaha WR450F, but it meets the Dakar regulations standards. It sports 450cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder with electric-start, and is linked to a 6 speed gearbox. The WR450F Rally also comes equipped with a special crankshaft, racing-spec exhaust system, and Programmable ECU. According to Yamaha, the muffler of the bike has been tuned to improve performance at both low and high rpm.
For suspension, it uses a KYB Std front fork with Yamaha Factory Team settings and KYB Factory rear suspension.
The 2015 Yamaha WR450F Rally has a fuel tank capacity of 7.55 gallons in two evenly-distributed plastic tanks (4.8 gallons and 2.7 gallons at the front and the removable rear tank, respectively) with a range of approximately 186 miles (300 Km). The bike also comes with a full navigation system controlled by bottons mounted near the left handgrip, easy-removable fairings, tall windscreen, a 50 watt LEDs headlight mounted inside a special shell, and a specially-designed bash plate with a water reserve, a water pump protector and a big toolbox.
The 2015 Yamaha WR450F Rally comes equipped with a 14 Ah lithium ion battery and a 270mm wave-style front brake disc instead of the WR450F’s standard 7 Ah battery and 250mm front brake disc. Furthermore, the WR450F Rally features graphics on the tanks and its fairing made out of crystal.
Yamaha Factory Racing Rally Team Yamalube will use the WR450F Rally as their race bike for Dakar 2015. It will be ridden by racer Olivier Pain, Alessandro Botturi and Michael Metge.
The 2015 Yamaha WR450F Rally is available for sale to prospective racers for €13,490. For those who already own a Yamaha WR450F, don’t worry, you can buy the Rally Kit separately for €5,690.
