Suzuki has introduced the two new GSX-R-engined sports-tourers, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F. Both models are all based on the same powerplant found on the 2005 – 2008 model years of the Suzuki GSX-R1000, “that’s been re-tuned for low-end and midrange torque”. The Suzuki GSX-R1000 itself has been updated for 2015 with anti-locking brakes as standard and a new paint scheme.
Although, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and Suzuki GSX-S1000F are powered by GSX-R1000’s “old” in-line four, 999cc engine, both models are equipped with new pistons and different cam profiles than the one found on the GSX-R1000. Furthermore, the “old” engine is wrapped in a new aluminium frame and aluminium swingarm with different geometries, has larger bore and shorter stroke (74.5 mm x 57.3 mm), as well as comes with three-mode traction control.
The GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F feature fully-adjustable KYB 43mm upside down front forks, a single link-type, coil spring rear shock, and brembo’s dual front brake calipers instead of radially mounted Brembo monoblocks that found on the GSX-S1000. It will be available with optional ABS.
The GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F come with LED position lights and LCD instrument panel, and sit on the 17-inch new cast-aluminum six-spoke wheels shod with ZR-rated Dunlop radials.
The Suzuki GSX-S1000F is a fully-faired version of the GSX-S1000, where it also gets a windscreen.
Unfortunatelly, both the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F will sell as a 2016 model. Suzuki has not revealed any details on price at the moment.
