The 2014 Yamaha Tricity three-wheeler has just arrived in Thailand, and it is priced at 79.500 Baht. Yamaha says it expects to sell more than 10,000 units in the first year after launch in Thailand. The Tricity innovative three-wheeler scooter also will be sold globally, with plans for sales to start in Japan and Europe by the end of this year. No word about whether the scooterwill make its way to the North American markets.
Manufactured in Thailand, the 2014 Yamaha Tricity is powered by a powerful and economical 125cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke single engine. The engine is equipped with Yamaha’s exclusive YMJET-FI fuel injection system, and it sends its power to the rear wheel through a continuously variable transmission.
The major highlight of the Tricity is its three-wheel design – two wheels at front and one at rear – and its Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW) mechanism that integrates a Parallelogram link and a Cantilevered telescopic suspension, allowing the front wheels to lean over and tilt along with the chassis while cornering and also help in providing better ridequality, as well as stability while maintaining agile, sporty handling.
The 2014 Yamaha Tricity weighs 335 lbs wet, and it has a 1.7-gallon fuel tank. Other features include a LCD instrument panel, large storage space underneath the seat, LED lamps, Unified Braking System (twin 220mm front rotors and a 230mm at rear) which is similar to Honda’s Combi Brake System, and so on.
The 2014 Yamaha Tricity is available in four colors: Mistral Grey, Anodized Red, Competition White and Midnight Black.
