Zero Electric Motorcycle has released its new 2012 Zero Electric Motorcycle Lineup that consist of 2012 Zero S, 2012 Zero XU, 2012 Zero DS, 2012 Zero X and 2012 Zero MX. These new electric two-wheelers come with new powertrains and upgraded power packs that promise better longevity and performance with speeds of up to 88 mph (142 km/h) and of 100 miles (160 km) for the street-oriented models, according to Zero.
2012 Zero S
2012 Zero S is the world’s first available mass-produced electric motorcycle capable of exceeding 100 miles on the EPA’s UDDS range test. It comes equipped with new Li-Ion battery cell technology that has maximum capacity: 6.0 kWh 9.0 kWh, nominal capacity: 5.3 kWh 7.9 kWh, with estimated pack life to 80% (city): 205,000 miles (330,000 km) / 308,000 miles (495,000 km). 2012 Zero S features new venting, a larger front brake master cylinder, new rotors, new bodywork and graphics with a black high-end aircraft grade aluminum frame as well as new headlight. The bike is also the first and only model to feature Zero’s newly designed and optimized cast wheels.
2012 Zero S is available in two power pack configurations: ZF6 (US$11,495 / €11,495) and ZF9 (US$13,995 / €13,995).
2012 Zero XU
2012 Zero XU comes with new powertrain. It’s more powerful, 75% farther on a charge and 25% faster. The bike utilizes regenerative deceleration and features revised frame geometry, new optimized Zero designed rotors and larger brake reservoirs. It new attery cell technology has maximum capacity: 3.0 kWh and nominal capacity: 2.6 kWh, capable of hitting a top speed of 65 mph. The rear wheel of the bike is now driven by a belt drive.
2012 Zero XU comes with anodized black frame and is priced starting at US$7,695 / €7,695.
2012 Zero MX
2012 Zero X shares a lot of the same improvements as the 2012 Zero X, but the 2012 Zero MX is lighter, faster off the line and have more traction in the dirt. This bike is designed for off-road and motocross track usage. 2012 Zero MX is priced starting at US$9,495 / €9,495.
2012 Zero X
The 2012 Zero X is more powerful than ever before, features new Z-Force battery technology with maximum capacity: 3.0 kWh and nominal capacity: 2.6 kWh. It’s capable of acceleration to 56 mph. Other features include new lights, a sidestand, mirrors, street legal tires and higher gearing as well as new bodywork and graphics. Furthermore, the 2012 Zero X has the ability to travel upwards of 103,000 miles while still retaining 80% capacity. Prices start at $9,945 / €9,945.
2012 Zero DS
2012 Zero DS is capable of 112 miles in the EPA’s UDDS range test. It features new powertrain and is capable of achieving speeds of up to 80 mph. The bike comes equipped with new battery cell technology with maximum capacity: 6.0 kWh 9.0 kWh, nominal capacity: 5.3 kWh 7.9 kWh, and estimated pack life to 80% (city): 203,000 miles (326,000 km) / 302,000 miles (487,000 km). Other features include new venting and bodywork, revised frame geometry, new rotors, a larger front brake master cylinder and it features more robust laced-spoke wheels, lower gearing as well as a more contemporary headlight.
2012 Zero DS will be available in 6 or 9 kWh configuration (ZF6 and ZF9). Prices start at US$11,495 / €11,495 for the ZF6 and US$13,995 /€13,995 for the ZF9.
