American Honda has unveiled a new addition to its Montesa trials motorcycle lineup, called the 2016 Honda Montesa Cota 300RR. The new race-oriented Cota 300RR joins the recently improved Honda Cota 4RT260, which is also produced entirely at the Honda-owned Montesa factory in the trials hotbed of Barcelona, Spain, and is only available in limited quantities.
Compared to the Cota 4RT260, the Montesa Cota 300RR is powered by a redesigned 288cc engine, based on those used by Montesa’s riders Oriol Noguera and Eddie Karlsson in Trial World Championships, which comes with a longer stroke and larger bore for increased power and torque across the rpm range. It is also equipped with a programmable ECU that allows fine-tuning for various weather and terrain conditions.
Honda also used many lightweight components for the 2016 Cota 300RR in order to reduce the weight of the bike as well as make the overall feel of the model lighter, yet more responsive and agile. As for examples, it use a new light front suspension with aluminum fork tubes and mechanized black-anodized wheel hubs made of 7075 T6 aluminum, and a titanium header pipe.
Braking duties are handled by a new front brake with a four-piston monoblock caliper and new clutch pumps with red anodized covers.
The Montesa 300RR is offered in red color only. It is available now for a price of $9,999, with first deliveries begin in December 2015.
