The 2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale has made its public debut at the EICMA in Milan, Italy. For 2015, Ducati’s latest flagship superbike gets a significant upgrade in displacement, along with revised suspension and brakes, and an updated impressive suite of electronics. Ducati also offers the S version of the 1299 Panigale and the 2015 model year of the Panigale R which drops the 1199 it had in its name last year.
The 2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale is powered by Ducati’s Superquadro L-twin engine with a displacement of 1,285cc that comes courtesy of a bigger bore: 116 mm, a 4mm increase compared the engine found in the 1199 Panigale. The stroke remains the same at 60.8mm. The result, the 2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale has a total output of 205 hp at 10,500 rpm and 106.7 lb-ft torque at 8,750 rpm.
For 2015, the Panigale R is still powered by the old Superquadro engine with a displacement of 1,198cc, providing the same 205 hp but at 11,500 rpm and 100.5 lb-ft of torque at 10,250 rpm. Other differences, the Panigale R is equipped with a Titanium Akrapovic exhaust system and has a lightweight lithium-ion battery.
Like its predecessor, the 2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale comes equipped with an impressive suite of electronics including three-stage Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), three different riding modes, the Cornering ABS system (Bosch 9.1MP ECU), a new 8-level anti-wheelie system called Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) with a blipper downshift function.
The 2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale S version adds the Öhlins Smart EC, while the standard version uses a fully adjustable Marzocchi 50mm inverted fork and Sachs monoshock. The Ducati Data Analyzer with GPS is standard on the 2014 Panigale R model, but optional on the regular 1299 Panigale and S versions.
Deliveries of all three Panigales are set to begin February or March next year, depending on the market. No word on pricing at the moment.
