The 2016 Ducati Monster 1200R is here. Claimed as the most powerful naked bike Ducati has ever made, the new Monster 1200R with its 1200 cc Teststastretta 11 degree twin engine can boast amazing performance, delivering 160hp at 9,250rpm and max torque of 97 ft-lbs at 7,750rpm. It acclerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. The engine is basically the same engine found in the Monster 1200 S, but it has 10% more horsepower and 5% more torque, thanks to its new throttle bodies, pistons, a larger diameter exhaust, a new inlet manifold, and higher compression ratio.
For 2016, the naked monster features a completely redesigned, lightweight, compact and high-slung tailpiece, seat and high-mounted plate holder. It gets a new steel frame, an adjustable steering damper, bigger brakes, more ground clearance, wet-type slipper clutch, new Ohlins suspension, and so on.
The Monster 1200R comes standard with the Ducati Safety Pack that inlcudes an eight-level traction control system, the 3-stage Bosch 9MP ABS system which can disabled by the rider, lift control, as well as three riding modes: sport, touring and urban. Its Thin Film Transistor’ (TFT) display has three different layouts: core, full and track, now with a selected gear indication in each display screen.
The 2016 Monster 1200R sits on the three-spoke alloy forged wheels wrapped in the Pirelli DIABLO Supercorsa SP tires (120/70ZR17 up front and 200/55ZR17 in the rear).
