Good news for those Americans who are looking for a middle-weight sportbike, American Honda has announced that the Honda CBR650F which was first revealed at last November’s EICMA show in Milan will be coming to the US dealerships sometimes in the summer as . It will be offered in Red, Candy Blue and Matte Black Metallic (Tricolor model pictured above is not offered in the US), each with a $8,499 price tag. The ABS version (in Red color) is available and is priced at $8,999.
The 2014 Honda CBR650F middle-weight sportbike is a full-fairing version of the naked CB650F. It powered by a DOHC 649cc inline-four cylinder engine which is mounted in a 30-degree incline in order to improve handling. Honda claims the engine is smoother and faster revving than most twins. American Honda didn’t reveals numbers for the U.S.-spec model yet, but the CBR650F Europe-spec is good for 85.8 hp at 11,000 rpm and 46.5 ft-lb. at 8000 rpm. Power is transfered rearward through a six-speed transmission and chain final drive.
For suspension, 2014 Honda CBR650F uses a 41mm fork with 4.3 inches of travel and a preload-adjustable single rear shock with 5.0 inches of travel. Breaking duties are handled by dual 320mm rotors with two-piston calipers up front and a single 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper at rear. ABS is available as optional feature.
The 2014 Honda CBR650F has a 4.5-gallon fuel tank, 31.9-inch seat height, and a stylish and functional four-into-two-into-one exhaust system. The CBR65F has a curb weight of 461 pounds, while the ABS version weighs 467 pounds.
American Honda will also offer a number of accessories for the CBR650F, including Tall Windscreen, Color-Matched Rear Seat Cowl, Heated Grips, Rear Carrier, Rear Trunk, Carbon-Fiber-Style Rear Tire Hugger, Carbon-Fiber Tank Pad, and Cycle Cover.
