Along with the 2014 CRF250R, Honda also has upadated its flagship motocrosser, the Honda CRF450R. The 2014 Honda CRF450R receives minor updates including new intake and exhaust ports, a new Dual-Timing PGM-FI fuel injection setup, redesigned muffler internals, new clutch springs, plus upgrades to the 48mm KYB air front fork.
The 2014 Honda CRF450R is powered by a 449cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with new Dual Fuel injection timing that provides sensitive feel for power and torque at partial throttle openings. The engine is linked to close-ratio five-speed transmision and features updated twin rear silencers and the clutch with lighter springs to enhance lever feel. For 2014, the CRF450R also gets a 48mm inverted KYB PSF (Pneumatic Spring Fork) air fork which is two pounds lighter than a conventional coil-spring fork and now with revised rebound pistons/centre rods plus new oil lock guides for improved oil flow, damping characteristics and better handling.
Like the 2014 CRF250R, the 2014 CRF450R now comes equipped with new compact twin-muffler exhaust system which are shorter than the single exhaust on the previous model and located low and close to the frame to improve mass centralization. Furthermore, its 9.35kg next-generation aluminium twin-beam frame was designed to work with the CRF450R’s revolutionary air fork.
Honda also developed the Honda Progressive Steering Damper to enhance cornering and tracking, while at the same time reducing rider fatigue.
The 2014 Honda CRF450R will be available in August. No word on pricing.
