The BMW S1000XR is a cross between an adventure bike and a sport bike. The new machine, which was first unveiled at the last year’s EICMA motorcycle, has the power of the S1000R with the upright seating position of the GS series, making it perfect choice for those who want the dynamic performance of a sport machine.
The heart of the 2016 BMW S1000XR is a water/oil-cooled four-cylinder four-stroke in-line engine that comes with four valves per cylinder and two overhead camshafts. It has a total output of 160 hp at 11,000 rpm and torque at 83 lb-ft (112 Nm) at 9,250 rpm.
The new adventure-sport bike has a frame dedicated to long-range touring and gets numerous high-end features as standard equipments, including Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Anti-lock Brakes (ABS), and two-riding mode (‘rain’ and ‘road’).
The 2016 BMW S1000XR is expected to arrive at dealerships late this spring as a 2016 model.
