BMW Europe has unveiled its new 2013 BMW R1200GS at the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. The BMW R1200GS, which enters its ninth year of production in 2013 was first introducted in 2004 and it has been sold over 170,000 times, making it the world’s top-selling adventure-tourer.
For 2013, the BMW R1200GS gets the newly designed air/water-cooled boxer engine with vertical through-flow, a wet clutch with anti-hopping function, integrated 6-speed gearbox and left-hand cardan shaft drive. The new engine delivers 125 horsepower at 7700 rpm compared to 110 horsepower of the last year’s model, and 92 ft. lbs. of torque at 6600 rpm. Moreover, the 2013 BMW R1200GS comes equipped with E-gas” ride-by-wire electronic throttle control, offering five freely selectable riding modes: “Rain”, “Road”, “Dynamic”, “Enduro” and “Enduro Pro” (optional extra). Its three different E-gas settings with varying engine characteristics are linked to BMW’s Automatic Stability Control (ASC) system, BMW Motorrad Integral ABS and a new semiactive suspension system (BMW’s dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment system).
The BMW R1200GS also comes with new chassis with tubular steel bridge frame, along with the newly designed Telelever at the front and the EVO Paralever at the rear, and sits on a 120/70 R19 front wheel and a 170/60 R17 rear wheel. Other features include LED main headlight, radially mounted Brembo monoblocs, new vehicle power supply and
Multi-Controller and so on.
The 2013 BMW R1200GS weighs 525 lbs (238 kg) without fuel. The 2013 BMW R1200GS will be available in four color options: Alpine White, Racing Red, Blue Fire and Thunder Metal Grey Metallic
