Yamaha has confirmed it will produce the MT-03, a larger-displacement variant of its naked MT-25 which was unveiled for the Asian markets including Indonesia – the MT-25 itself is the naked version of the YZF-R25 sport bike. The Japanese motorcycle maker has listed the bike, complete with some pictures, on its official website.
The upcoming MT-03 shares most of the Yamaha YZF-R3’s specs. Its 321cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine is good for just over 41hp at 10,750 rpm and 21.8 lb-ft of torque at 9,000 rpm. The Yamaha MT-03 is 8.8 pounds lighter than the R3, and comes with a single headlight, along with a wider handlebar that provides a more upright seating position.
In Japan, the 2016 Yamaha MT-03 will be available in black metallic, matt silver and red metallic. There is no official word yet on when the Yamaha MT-03 will arrive in US, and will be rebadged as FZ-03.
