Royal Enfield has unveiled an all-new range of limited motorcycles based on its Classic 500 cruiser, called the 500 Despatch Edition. As its name suggets, the bike is inspired by the “despatch riders” of the two World Wars.
The Classic 500 Despatch Edition is distinguished from the regular Classic 500 cruiser by its special color options, each comes with a genuine Italian leather seat complemented by leather buckle straps for the Air Filter box, plus the exhaust, Tiger lamp casing, Front & rear indicators, engine and silencer are finished in matte-black . The 500 Despatch Edition will be available in three different army camouflage colors including Desert Storm Despatch, Squadron Blue Despatch and Military Green Despatch. The Classic 500 Military Green Despatch will not be sold in India and will be reserved exclusively for international markets, since the Indian military does not allow green color to be used for civilian use.

There are no mechanical changes, the Classic 500 Despatch is powered by the same 499cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke twinspark engine with Keihin Electronic Fuel Injection and is mated to a five-speed transmission, providing 27 hp at 5,250 rpm and 41 Nm (30.4 lb-ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm.
