The Japanese moto-maker, Kawasaki, has revealed the 2015 model year of its Ninja ZX-10R as well as a special anniversary edition of the 998cc superbike marking 30 years since the first Ninja was produced by the “Green” company in 1984.
The 2015 Ninja ZX-10R 30th Anniversary Edition is based on the Ninja ZX-10R which received no upgrades for 2015. It is powered by a 998 cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-stroke, four valves per cylinder, inline-four engine with an oversquare 76mm by 55mm dimensions. The engine uses dual fuel injectors and transfers its power to the rear wheel via a six speed transmission.
The main features of the 2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R include an aluminum-frame with race-inspired bodywork, Öhlins electronic steering damper, the Showa Big Piston Separate Function Fork (BP-SFF), a Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control (S-KTRC) system, selectable engine power modes, adjustable footpegs, a titanium exhaust, and a slipper clutch with a lighter pull.
Other features include three-spoke cast aluminum wheels, 32-inch seat height, multi-function LCD instruments, and a 4.5 gallon fuel tank.
Breaking duties are handled by Nissin two 310mm petal-cut discs and four-piston radial-mount calipers up front and a 220mm disc and single-piston caliper at rear. The 2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R also can be had with a Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) with Bosch components. According to Kawasaki, the ZX-10R weighs 436.6 pounds (the ABS version adds about 7 pounds of weight).
The 2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R 30th Anniversary Edition is only distinguished by a special Lime Green/Pearl Stardust White paintjob with 30th Anniversary badges on each side of its fairing. The standard 2015 ZX-10R is painted in Metallic Matte Carbon Gray/Flat Ebony.
The 2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and 30th Anniversary Edition are priced at $14,299 and $14,599, respectively. ABS adds $1000 to the price.
