Suzuki has released more pictures and a video of its all-electric monkey bike, the Suzuki Extrigger, which was recently unveiled at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show.
The Suzuki Extrigger electric concept is powered by the same 580 W AC synchronous motor as the company’s Suzuki E-Let’s scooter. Suzuki did not reveal any of the Extrigger’s specifications, but the 580 W AC synchronous motor is said only has an output of 2.3 hp and 11 ft-lb, and it is only good for 20 miles of range and a maximum speed of 20 mph. Let’s just hope the Company will develope and fit the bike a proper engine just like the Honda Grom with its 124.9cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke that has an output of 9.7 hp at 7000 rpm – eventhough the e-let’s motor has a higher torque output than the Grom (8.0 ft-lb. at 5500 rpm)
The Suzuki Extrigger weighs just 137 pounds compared to the Groom’s 225 pounds. The all-electric monkey bike also comes equipped an interesting feature from Casio, a visible light communication system (VLC) that allows “the rider [to] receive information from the motorcycle shop or enjoy communicating with friends,” where it can transmit signals at Ethernet-level speeds of 10 Mbits across a distance of about 1.2 miles.
