2014 Ducati Panigale 1199 Superleggera Limited Edition

Following its leaked pictures and a few weeks of teasing “Project 1201” video, Ducati has finally introduced its super light superbike, the 2014 Ducati Panigale 1199 Superleggera.

It features forged magnesium wheels from Marchesini, monocoque chassis made of magnesium, full titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, as well as carbonfibre rear sub-frame and bodywork. Furthermore, its engine parts including conrods, exhaust valves and inlet valves  all are titanium.

Made of titanium, magnesium, carbon fiber and comes with a lithium-ion battery, the Panigale 1199 Superleggera weighs just 341.7 pounds (dry), 23 pounds lighter than the Panigale R. Ducati even claims it as “the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production motorcycle”.

The super light Superleggera is powered by a 1198cc L-twin engine with four-valve cylinder, providing over 200 horsepower at11,500 rpm and 98.8 pound-feet of torque. Other lightweight features include a fully adjustable FL916 front fork with machined fork bottoms and Ohlins TTX36 rear monoshock with titanium spring, a World Superbike-spec drive chain and Brembo M50 brakes with radial-mount monobloc calipers, a racing-style MCS 19-21 front master cylinder and remote adjuster.

Productionof the 2014 Ducati Panigale 1199 Superleggera is limited to 500 unit only.
