Unveiled at the EICMA in Milan last mounth, for 2013 model year both bikes get an updated engine and switchable ABS with track mode. Visually, the bikes receive a redesigned chassis with repositioned exhaust and their bodywork are sleeker than the previous models.
The 2013 Triumph Daytona 675 now gets twin fuel injectors per cylinder for improved fueling at all engine speeds, and reshaped titanium valves which helps the engine achieve its higher rev limit. Just like Triumph says “the key change is the wider bore and shorter stroke dimensions, allowing a higher 14,400rpm rev limit to gain more power and a broader spread of usable revs.”
The engine is connected to a six-speed transmission with a new slipper clutch. The 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R model also comes with a new quick shifter. Both 2013 Triumph Daytona 675 and 675R also come equipped with Brembo monobloc calipers and a new switchable ABS that includes a late intervention track setting which allows rear wheel drift.
As mentioned above, the bike also come with a redesigned chassis with repositioned exhaust, which now sits under the engine rather than under the rear seat, this “to centralize the bike’s mass as much as possible and move the weight forward, key factors in making the new Daytona even more agile and yet more stable at speed.”
The standard Daytona 675 gets the KYB’s latest fixed-cartridge forks and revised rear shock. While the Daytona 675R model features Ohlins NIX30 front forks and TTX rear shock. Both models come equipped with new lightweight wheels shod with uber-sticky Pirellie Supercrosa tires.
The 2013 Daytona 675 now features a 10mm reduction in seat height (from 32.7 inches to 32.2 inches). As for the Daytona 675 R, the more track-oriented model retains its 32.7 inches seat height. The R also comes standard with Triumph’s accessory quickshifter, carbon fiber panels and rear wheel hugger.
The 2013 Daytona 675 and 2013 Daytona 675R will hit dealerships by February 2013 for $11,599 (Color choices: Phantom Black & Graphite, Crystal White & Sapphire Blue, and Diablo Red & Jet Black) and $13,499 (Crystal White with Black Trim and red rear subframe), respectively.
