Ducati has officially introducted the 1199 Panigale superbike at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The spectacular Yas Marina Circuit was built for Formula 1 car racing in 2009 at a cost of around $1.3 billion!
The Ducati 1199 Panigale is available in three versions: the regular 1199 Panigale, the Panigale S and the Panigale S Tricolore. It is powered by 1,198cc ‘Superquadro’ L-twin engine with an all-new monocoque chassis, a dry weight of 164 kilos and the incredible bore and stroke of 112mm x 60.8mm, delivering 195 horsepower at 10,750rpm and 132Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. This result makes the Panigale is the most advanced superbike ever produced by Ducati.
The Panigale’s monocoque chassis is made of die-cast aluminium which uses the engine as a stressed member, this is a key factor in keeping the bike’s weight down. The Ducati 1199 Panigale is l39mm longer than the 1198- the wheelbase is now 1,437m. This bike also comes standard with fully adjustable 50mm Marzocchi USD forks and fully adjustable Sachs monoshock. While the Panigale S and Tricolore are equipped with Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), which comes from Öhlins.
For the breakes, it gets twin 330mm semi-floating discs and radial-mount Brembo monobloc M50 four-piston calipers at the front, and single 245mm disc with dual-piston calipers at the back. ABS with he latest generation Bosch 9ME processor is available as standard on the Tricolore variant, and as optional on the base Panigale and the Panigale S.
The Panigale has 10-spoke 17-inch wheels while the S and Tricolore variants get three-spoke wheels from Marchesini. All are wraped with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres-120/70 ZR17 (front) and 200/55 x ZR17 (rear).
