At the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, Triumph has revealed its the updated 675cc naked bikes, the Triumph Street Triple and The Triumph Street Triple R. For 2013, both Triumph Street Triple and The Triumph Street Triple R get an all-new chassis featuring aluminum beam twin-spar frames for dynamic and better handling, as well as receive two-piece die-cast rear subframes and an all-new low-mount exhaust. Moreover, Triumph says the 2013 Speed Triple’s “clever design and optimized mass centralization has also afforded Triumph’s engineers the opportunity to tweak the geometry, reducing the rake to 24.1o and increasing the trail by 0.5mm to 99.6m” as well as helping reduce the wet weight by 13 pounds to 403 pounds.
Both the 2013 Triumph Street Triple and the 2013 Triumph Street Triple R are still powered by the liquid-cooled, 12-valve, 675cc three-cylinder engine, which is linked to a close-ratio six-speed gearbox. The engine produces 105 horsepower and 50 ft. lbs. of torque. The base 2013 Triumph Street Triple comes equipped with an unadjustable 41mm KYB upside-down forks while the 2013 Triumph Street Triple R gets the benefit of fully adjustable 41mm forks up front and its rear shock has adjustable pre-load and rebound settings.
Both models now come standard with switchable ABS and 310mm dual brake discs, though the R’s 310mm dual brake discs are clamped by more-powerful four-piston Nissin radial calipers. Visually, the 2013 Triumph Street Triple R model adds a red rear subframe, red pinstriped rims anda red-detailed radiator shroud featuring the big R logo.
Other standard features on the 2013 Triumph Street Triple and the 2013 Triumph Street Triple R include comprehensive LCD instrumentation with big analog tachometer, lap timer, clock, gear change lights and gear indicator, and an engine immobilizer.
The 2013 Triumph Street Triple will be available in three colors: Phantom Black, Crystal White and striking Caribbean Blue.
