2014 KTM EXC and SX Lineup European-spec

KTM has unveiled the 2014 KTM EXC enduro and SX motocross lineup (European-spec). The U.S.-spec models have yet to be revealed, but will be mostly the same with some differences. For example, the U.S.-spec of KTM 450 SX-F will be offered with a five-speed transmission instead of a four-speed transmission.

All 2014 enduro models (EXC) receive several upgrades including the molybdenum steel frame, a redesigned swingarm, and new fuel tanks. The all new and ready to race EXC models also get minor suspension update, new airbox covers, headlights, hand guards as well as new front fender (50% stiffer than the previous one) with a new shape designed to reduce mud build-up. At the Bike Austria show, KTM has officially announced that its E-Speed electric scooter, which was originally presented last month at the 2013 Tokyo Motorcycle Show as a concept, will enter production and is set to be introduced to the European market in 2015. Read more

KTM Unveils E-Speed Electric Scooter Concept in Tokyo

KTM has unveiled its new electric scooter concept, the KTM E-Speed, at the 2013 Tokyo Motorcycle Show.

Based on KTM’s first electric bike, the Freeride E dirtbike, the KTM E-Speed concept scooter has the same lithium ion battery and powertrain concept but designed “to offer a comparable solution for urban areas.” That’s why the KTM E-Speed’s motor (14.8 hp and 26.6 ft-lb of torque) has less power than the Freeride E’s (29.5 hp and 30.9 ft-lb of torque). The electric motor is powered by 4.36kWh lithium ion battery and sends power to the rear wheel via a belt drive. Read more
