2013 Norton Commando 961 Series Gets CARB Approval

Last year after received EPA’s Certificate of Conformity, Norton Motorcycles’s 2013 Commando 961 lineup which consist of the 2013 Norton Commando 961 SE, Café Racer, Sport and SF (Sport Factory) are now finally certified for the state of California by receiving the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

All Norton Commando 961 models are fitted with 961cc parallel twin engines. Each air-cooled engine on the Norton Commando 961 SE, Café Racer and Sport variants is good for 89 hp at 7700 rpm and 59 ft-lb. at 6000 rpm, while the air/oil-cooled SF (Sport Factory) version claims 89 hp at 6500 rpm and 66 ft-lb. at 5200 rpm.

For brake system, the 2013 Norton Commando 961 SE, Café Racer, and SF (Sport Factory) utilize Brembo’s twin 320mm front disc brakes and four-piston calipers. Meanwhile, the Sport model with the same twin 320mm front disc brakes uses radial-mount instead of four-piston calipers and it is equipped with conventiona Öhlins forks instead of upside-down Öhlins forks that found on all models. For rear brake, there are 220mm disc and two-piston calipers for all models, supplied by Brembo.

Weighing at 414 pounds, the SF model is lighter than other models (each claim a dry weight of 452 pounds).
