Yamaha has unveiled its retro-yet-modern-styled roadster called the Yamaha XSR700 that pays tribute to the iconic Yamaha XS650.
Aimed at young and stylish riders, the 2016 Yamaha XSR700 was “designed to take a timeless feel built on historical icons, matched with tomorrow’s technology”. It is based on the MT-07/ FZ-07 platform, powered by the Liquid-cooled 689cc parallel-twin that blends Yamaha’s special ‘crossplane philosophy’ with 270-degree crank. It has a total output of 73.8 hp at 9,000 rpm and 50.2 lb-ft peaking at 6,500 revs.
The 2016 Yamaha XSR700’s highlights include a vintage inspired single-round LED headlight and rear light, two-texture leather vintage style seat, period style speedometer, wide tapered black handlebars, mesh side panels, embroidered seat logo, stubby rear muffle, 10-spoke aluminium wheels, plus aluminium fender, headlight bracket, and retro fuel tank.
The 2016 Yamaha XSR700 has a tubular steel chassis with an easily customizable bolt-on rear sub-frame, horizontally-mounted monoshock rear suspension, and features dual 282mm front discs with 4-pot calipers, as well as standard ABS. The bike rides on the Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tires (120/70-17 up front, with a 180/55-17 in the rear) that has perfect mix of vintage looks and contemporary technology.
Yamaha also offers a wide range of customization accessories and a complete range of rider apparel such as a radiator cover, knuckle guards, single seat, fly screen, tank bag and so on.
