“what isn’t there doesn’t weigh anything either.” The KTM 690 SMC R is an unrivaled Supermoto for the most demanding requirements. It’s suitable for racing or everyday use, featuring a potent design, and is state-of-the-art.
The 2012 KTM 690 SMC R is powered by a new 690cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled LC4 single-cylinder engine that delivers 66 horsepower, and is mated to 6-speed transmission with a hydraulically operated APTC anti-hop clutch. It combines powerful acceleration from the lowest rpms and consumes even less fuel. It also comes equipped with balancer shaft, which eliminates vibration without having any detrimental effect on the life of the super-single.
The running gear comes with a tubular space frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel and the high-quality die-cast swingarm. Other highlight features include WP 4860 ROMA USD fork (250mm travel), WP 4618 monoshock with Pro-Lever linkage (250mm travel), single 320mm floating Brembo‘s brake disc at front with radial-mount four-piston brake caliper and 240mm brake disc at the back, as well as a wheelbase of 1480mm, ground clearance of 270mm, 12-litre fuel tank and dry weight of 142kg.
