Honda has announced that the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin is ready for production, and units are expected to be ready for retail by this fall.
The long-expected, much-anticipated, adventure-machine CRF1000L Africa Twin was originally unveiled and shown as prototype to the public last November at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show. The adventure-styled bike “remains true to all the attributes and abilities of the XRV650 and its successor, the XRV750, while adding the benefits of everything Honda has learned on and off-road over the last decade, including Team HRC’s return to the Dakar in 2013.”
Honda didn’t reveal the technical details of the 2016 CRF1000L Africa Twin yet, however from the visual details the bike will features enduro-ready spoked rims (21-inch front and 18-inch rear), a Twin Spar aluminum frame, an externally-mounted airbox, a lower-mounted fuel tank, and will be powered by a 1000cc parallel twin engine that should be good for 110 horsepower. Furthermore, according to the Company the CRF1000L Africa Twin will feature the option of a new evolution of Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) technology which has been specifically developed and prog rammed to provide the off-road ability.
