Tokyo-based electric vehicle manufacturer Terra Motors Corporation (Terra) has introduced its new electric three-wheeler, called the EV Tricycle Taxi. The EV Tricycle Taxi is aimed at emerging Southeast Asia markets, to replace auto rickshaws such as tuk-tuk (Thailand), bajai (Indonesia), and other three-wheelers that are a common sight on the streets of many largest Cities in Southeast Asia, because all those three-wheelers are still powered by high polluting two-stroke engines that are no longer environmentally friendly, and noisy.
As seen on the pictures (the prototype model of an EV Tricycle Taxi), the electric vehicle by Terra Motors has tree wheels (one at front and two at rear). It measures 3.3 m long, 1.47 m wide, and comes with seats facing each other at rear for five passengers.
The Tricycle Taxi electic three-wheeler boasts a motor capable of outputting 7KW of power, powered by a 48V/60A lithium-ion battery which is good for a range of up to 50 km (31 miles). The EV Tricycle Taxi is said has a top speed of 50 km/h (31 mph).
The EV Tricycle Taxi will be offered from later this year for around US$6,300.
