The Italian Dolomite mountains recently have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and to pay tribute to the beautiful mountains – where Ducati and Ferrari teams hold their Wrooom event-, Ducati has unveiled the one off Multistrada 1200 S dubbing it ‘Dolomites Peak.’
Ducati has unveiled the 2013 Multistrada 1200 S Dolomites Peak Edition as part of this year’s Wrooom celebrations at Italy’s Madonna di Campiglio ski resort, featuring the breathtaking views of the mountains of northeast Italy as the backdrop, MotoGP factory riders Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso who pulled the covers of the special edition bike, as well as the teams.
Essentially, the Multistrada 1200 S Dolomites Peak Edition is the same as the Ducati Pikes Peak Replica Edition. The special edition bikes receive special three-spoke Marchesini wheels, as well as special carbon fiber racing screen, fenders, air scoops, side extractors and engine guards. Like the European-spec Pikes Peak Editions, the Ducati Dolomite Peak Edition also comes equipped with a carbon Termignoni exhaust.
The only difference between the Pikes Peak Edition and the Dolomite Peak Edition is the paint shceme. The Ducati Dolomite Peak Edition comes with the same Ducati Corse striped paint scheme as the Pikes Peak model but receives silver mountain range motif on the tank to represent the Dolomites mountain range, and several Wrooom Madonna di Campiglio decals.
For the engine, the 2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Dolomites Peak Edition is powered by the same 1198cc Testastretta 11° dual spark engine found on the regular Pikes Peak Edition model, delivering 148 hp at 9250 rpm and 91.8 ft-lb. of torque at 7500 rpm. The engine is supported by electronic features, including ride-by-wire throttle control, traction control, four ride modes, ABS and Ducati’s semi-active Skyhook Suspension system.
