Honda has revealed pictures and the first details of its all-new mini-bike, the 2013 Honda MSX125.
The 2013 Honda MSX125 “carries on the tradition of the original, small-wheeled leisure motorcycle, defined by Honda in 1963 with the iconic Monkey, and continued with the Dax and Ape,” the Honda MSX125 is powered by a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected 4-stroke engine. The engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox and comes with Honda‘s PGM-FI fuel injection system- which inherited from the Honda Wave 125i underbone motorcycle-, delivering 9.7 hp at 7000 rpm and 8.0 ft-lb. of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is said also has low-friction features such as an offset cylinder and roller-rocker arms.
Honda claims, the all-new 2013 Honda MSX125 “is part mini-bike, part motorcycle, with engaging performance matched to confident handling and styling that combines a sense of fun with a tough, urban edge.” The bike features a steel mono-backbone steel tube chassis, along with monoshock suspension at the rear and a 31mm upside-down fork upfront which is a first for a 125cc Honda.
The 2013 Honda MSX125 sits on 12-inch cast-alloy wheels wrapped with 120/70 (front) and 130/70 (rear) tires. The front wheel is equipped with a two-piston brake caliper gripping a 220mm disc while the rear comes with a single 190mm disc with single-piston caliper. Other features include projector headlight, LED taillight and LCD digital dash, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and clock.
MSX125’s has a (30.1 inches off the ground) low-seat, 1.45 gallon fuel tank and weighs 224 pounds.
The all-new 2013 Honda MSX125 will be manufactured in Thailand, and will come in four colors: Asteroid Black Metallic, Pearl Himalayas White, Pearl Queen Bee Yellow and Pearl Valentine Red. The bike also has been confirmed for European and Japanese market, but unfortunately there is no word about U.S. availability.
