2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R

For 2013, Ducati has unveiled the R version of its 1199 Panigale. Unveiled at the 2012 EICMA International Motorcycle Show along with the water-cooled 2013 Hypermotard, and the 2013 Ducati Diavel Strada, the 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R is based on the S model – and is an upgraded version of the sportbike for WSBK Homologation – but comes with new light-weight titanium connecting rods (-1.38 lbs), a lightened flywheel (-1.54 lbs) and the use of carbon-fiber throughout, making it is lighter than its predecessor. The Panigale R has a wet weight of 416.7 pounds.

In addition to the lower curb weight, the 2013 1199 Panigale R also features DLC-coated rocker-arms, a four-point adjustable swingarm pivot-point, as well as a new full-system race exhaust and ECU, which enable the Panigale R’s engine to rev up to 12,000 rpm, a 500 rpm increase on the Panigale S model’s rev limit, and helps the bike spit out 201 horsepower on the top end. The Panigale R still peaks at 192 hp at 10,750rpm and 98.1 ft-lb. at 9000rpm, but according to Ducati, the 1199 Panigale R now generates 15% more mid range power – thanks to the race kit upgrades.

Other Ducati 1199 Panigale R highlights include High-penetration racing screen, Fairing mirror-caps, Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), Ducati Riding Modes (Race, Sport, Wet), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ride-by-Wire (RbW), DDA and ABS as standard.

The 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R will be available in Ducati Red paintjob with classic white highlights and a red and brushed aluminum fuel tank and black Marchesini wheels. In US, the bike will cost $29,995.
