Following Honda’s announcement to re-entry into the venerated Dakar Rally next year, Honda has finally unveiled the mechine that the Japanese manufacture will use on its return to famous and the world’s toughest Dakar Rally in Januari 2013, the Honda CRF450 Rally.
Based on Honda’s commercial CRF450X enduro racing model, the 2013 Honda CRF450 Rally adds Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI*) electronic fuel injection system to ensure fuel efficiency and durability, and comes with low-mounted side tanks, lower side fairings as well as a navigation system located behind the windscreen.
There will be five riders in the Honda team, including 11-time Baja 1000 champion Johnny Campbell (USA), Helder Rodrigues (Portugal), Felipe Zanol (Brazil), Sam Sunderland (United Kingdom) and Javier Pizzolito (Argentina).
The 2013 Honda CRF450 Rally currently under development and already tested in Japan. The Rally bike also will be ridden in its first race at the Morocco Rally as a warm-up to next year’s Dakar, starting October 14th.
