To steal the spotlight of Yahama’s new R1, Ducati has unveiled the 2015 Panigale R, which is the homologated base for its WSBK machines and is essentially a street-legal superbike.

The 2015 Ducati Panigale R is powered by an 1198 cm3 Superquadro L-twin engine with titanium intake and exhaust valves, plus two-ring pistons, titanium con-rods, and a lightweight crankshaft. As the result, the engine has an increadible total output of 205 hp at 11,500 rpm and a torque of 136.2 Nm at 10,250 rpm, although the actual WSBK racebike has 210bhp at the crank. The Panigale R streetbike is also 16kg heavier than the WSBK racebike.

As a street-legal bike, the 2015 Ducati Panigale R is fitted with indicators and lights.

It is equipped with three riding modes, an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Cornering ABS, Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), and updated Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and the Engine Brake Control (EBC).

For suspension, there is Öhlins NIX30 fork and TTX36 shock absorber). Other features include 17-inch lightweight forged aluminium wheels, Li-ion battery, a full titanium Akrapoviç exhaust system and a TFT instrumentation with indicator of lean angle.
