Last year at the EICMA show, BMW Motorrad has unveiled its new supernaked bike dubbed the S1000R. And this year at the same motorcyle show, the Company has revealed the newest light-adventure-touring called the 2015 BMW S1000XS, which is powered by the same inline-four engine and has a similar aluminum-alloy perimeter frame design as the S1000R roadster, but of course gets numerous touring upgrades.
Its straight-four-cylinder engine comes with a displacement of 999cc, providing 160hp 11,000 rpm and maximum torque of 83 lb-ft at 9,250 rpm. A Quickshifter Pro for both up and down shifting without the clutch is available as option.
The 2015 BMW S1000XR “serves up its own individual mix of sporting and touring flair”. The base adventure-sport motorcycle is fitted with a standard version of the Automatic Stability Control (ASC), ABS and two riding modes: rain and road. An optional impressive electronics package is also available including two additional riding modes: Dynamic and Dynamic Pro, which makes use of Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) rather than BMW’s version of standard traction control ASC.
The 2015 BMW S1000XR uses 46mm upside-down front fork with adjustable rebound and compression damping, and a single link-actuated rear shock. Both by Sachs. ESA semi-active suspension remains available at an extra cost.
The 2015 BMW S1000XR sits on 17-inch 10-spoke die-cast aluminium wheels wrapped in 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR17 rear tires. It features light-footed handling, raised seating position, and multifunctional instrument cluster.
There are a number of touring accessories and upgrades, such as hand guards, heated grips, panniers, top boxes, navigation system mounts and so on.
The 2015 BMW S1000XR will be available in two color options: Racing Red and Light White colors. No word on pricing and availability.
