The Brammo Empulse and Empulse R electric motorcycles receive minor updates for 2014. The updates include tapered aluminum handlebar, a redesigned and waterproof LCD dash, Continental SportAttack 2 tires (120-70 ZR17, 58W front and 180-55 ZR17, 73W rear), a redisgned nickel-plated battery brackets.
According to Brammo, the weight has been dropped by 10 pounds to 460 pounds. Significant figures have also been updated, the lighter 2014 models can now hit a top speed of 110 mph, compared to the 2013’s 105 mph. On the running costs side, the combined range increased to 80 miles from 77 miles.
The world’s currently fastest electric production motorcycles boast the proven liquid-cooled engine with 6-speed gearbox, lithium-ion battery pack with a nominal capacity of 9.31 kWh and fast charging. The empty battery can be fully recharged in 3.5 hours via a Level 2 public charging station and 8.0 hours from a Level 1 charger, while carging from 20% to 80% takes 2 hours through a Level 2 charging station.
The 2014 Empulse has a peak output of 54 hp at 6000 rpm and 46.5 ft-lb. of maximum torque, while the Brammo Empulse R produces 54 hp at 4500 rpm and 66 ft-lb. of maximum torque. Both models are equipped with semi-adjustable 43mm Marzocchi forks and semi-adjustable Sachs monoshock (colored in black on the base model, and in gold for fork and red for spring on the R version).
The 2014 Brammo Empulse and Empulse R will be available in new colors: Neodymium Silver Metallic and Maillot Jaune Yellow, as well as the returning colors: True Blood Red and Eclipsed Black. The 2014 Empulse R retails for $18,995 while the regular Empulse is priced at $16,995.
