2014 Kawasaki Z1000

Following the leaked images, Kawasaki has officially unveiled the 2014 model year of its streetfighter, the Kawasaki Z1000, at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan earlier this month. The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 receives visually as well as engine and chassis updates, making it more aggresive than before.

The 2014 Z1000’s 1043cc engine which is sits in an aluminum frame is propelled by the same engine as the Kawasaki Z1000SX now features revised intake cams, airbox vents, new cylinder connecting passageways and more aggressive ECU settings for improved throttle response and more bottom-to-midrange power boost. The drivetrain now also has shorter final drive gearing for faster acceleration performance and a taller sixth gear for improved fuel efficiency as well as a fairly smoother ride at highway speed. With all those improvements, the liquid-cooled 1043cc, four-stroke, DOHC, four valves per cylinder, inline-four engine on the 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 now has an output of 140 hp at 10,000 rpm and 82 lb-ft of torque at 7,300 rpm, compared to the 136 hp and 81 lb.-ft. of torque the previous model produced. Furthermore, the 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 also receives new exhaust internals.

The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 has new compact subframe design which is more slender and shorter to match its new uniquely aggressive “Sugomi” styling. Other new and upgrade features include Showa fully adjustable 41mm inverted Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) fork up front, one-piece “monobloc” radial-mount front brake calipers, a revised ABS pump, oval-shaped connector tubes, supersport-style 6-spoke lightweight aluminum wheels, analog plus Digital instrument cluster,  a new aluminum handlebar, increased capacity of the fuel tank (3.3 to 3.7 gallons) and new reflector-less LED headlight design.

The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is offered in Flat Ebony / Metallic Spark Black or Candy Burnt Orange / Metallic Spark Black color schemes. A Special Edition model with Golden Blazed Green / Metallic Graphite Grey paintjob is also going to be available. The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is priced at $11,999.
